You're not in TX anymore
Akin moved into NY on the back of its funds practice thinking that between oil and gas and funds it could play with real NY firms. It can't. If you want to work in Texas, work at Akin, if you want to work in NY, work at a real NY firm.

The above post is nothing more than name calling and strikes me as bigoted. Akin's NY practice is among the elite in that market, particularly now that financial restructuring is at the fore. Neither Texas nor Texans should be denigrated this way. The author clearly does not understand this firm, its collegiality, or its economics. If you believe that this is some sort of US News and World Report numbers game, by all means, leave and go to work at one of the firms you perceive as "elite."
