Stop the Layoffs!
We made billions of dollars in profit, but still decided to lay off 300 people at corporate and tons more at Sam's Club. Why the layoffs? Check out our financials and you will see that we didn't have to lay these people off.

You don't have a right to a job. If mngt. wants to lay people off, good for them. Over time we Wal-Mart will get a bad rep and they will have to raise salaries to hire people.

Yeah, I know we don't have a "right" to a job. I can't argue with that.
I just wish we could have gone a different route other than laying people off. With the job market the way it is, it seems crazy for a company as rich as wal-mart to be laying people off.

It could be worse. It could be Walmart in China. I don't know if anyone has seen THAT documentary...

They are laying off a lot of people over here. People that shouldn't need to be layed off. Firing the associates with a lot of experience and keeping the associates that break the rules. I was a dept manager and was fired for not keeping up with 3 depts. I had no zoners. How was I supposed to keep up with that?

You can't look at just dollar amounts with such a large company. That is how you lose sight and push a company into the ground. Thats why you look at it in percentages. Also cutting a corporate should be looked at in a good view, it shows that the stores are not the only ones dealing with cuts. They are keeping it spread across the company. The Sam's Clubs that were closed down, were they meeting profit? Also they use surrounding stores to absorb the work force that lost jobs.

I was one of the ones who got laid off at Sam's when our entire department closed. Came to wal-mart, wish I never left Sam's Club.
